Conductors
Former
Conductor David Kaminski served as Music Director and Conductor
of the Sharon Community Bands for six seasons.
He is a graduate
of Northeastern University and holds a Master of Music degree from
the University of New Mexico, where he developed and directed the
UNM community band.
Mr. Kaminki
is presently the band director at Georgetown Middle High School
in Georgetown, Massachusetts, where he leads middle-and high school-level
concert bands, jazz bands, and the high school marching band. He
is an active saxophonist, playing with local ensembles, and also
teaches privately.
Mr. Kaminski,
his wife, Lynn, and daughter, Shira, live in Westwood.
Gordon
Hallberg brought to his conducting an extensive background as
a performing musician. As trombonist, Mr. Hallberg has been a member
of "The President's Own" U.S. Marine Band, The Florida Symphony,
the Atlantic Symphony (Canada), and the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
As a freelance player, he has played with groups as varied as the
Chicago Symphony, Mantovani, Neil Diamond, Johnny Mathis, and many
"pick-up" jazz bands.
After college
studies with James Dixon and Paul Olefsky, Hallberg's experience
as a conductor includes appearances with the San Antonio Symphony,
and a three year appointment as music director of the San Antonio
Brass-an 18-piece professional Brass/Percussion ensemble. He has
served as Orchestra Director at Washington State University, Assistant
Conductor of the Washington-Idaho Symphony and has directed brass
groups at Boston University and MIT.
Richard
Reynolds, a former conducting student of Aaron Copland and Leonard
Bernstein, has an extensive background in both classical and jazz
music. Besides conducting, Rich has performed as trumpeter with
many professional ensembles, including Boston Pops, the Chicago
Civic Orchestra, the National Symphony, and the Lawrence Welk Orchestra.
A noted lecturer and educator he has also made recordings for A
& M, Non Such, and London Records. Rich attended Hartt College
of Music at the University of Hartford, and Syracuse University.
Rich served as
conductor of the Sharon Community Concert Band and it’s sister ensemble,
the Roy Scott Big Band for over eight years.
Mark
Wolbarst has been a member of the Sharon Community Band since
it's inception in 1988. He has served as Conductor, President,
and Board member of the Sharon Community Band during several
seasons. He graduated from the Boston Conservatory of Music
in 1971 and has taken graduate courses from Boston University and
S.U.N.Y. Chautauqua. Mark was the Music director at Hanover
High School for six years. While in Hanover, he directed Fiddler
on the Roof, You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, Jesus Christ Superstar,
and The Wizard of Oz.
Marc
Theriault, Originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, has lived most
of his life in Norwood. There he received numerous awards in recognition
both as an individual player and as a member of the many ensembles
with which he played. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Marc's
career has found him in many varied fields over the years, but always
coming back to his musical roots along the way. A Sharon resident
for the last four years, he is also very involved in the teaching
and music ministries at Evangelical Baptist Church.
