Joining the Bands

Band membership is open to all area musicians. Woodwind, brass, and percussion players are invited to join the Sharon Concert Band. As of Fall 2019, we have a particular need for: bassoon, trombone, tuba, mallet percussion, and string bass players.

NOTE: At the current time, the flute, oboe, clarinet, tenor sax, trumpet, baritone horn sections are fully staffed. If you are interested in joining the band and wish to be placed on a waiting list, please contact the Personnel Managers below.

There is no formal audition required to play, but the members are expected to make a serious commitment to rehearse and perform a challenging repertoire.

The Roy Scott Big Band is a limited-membership ensemble. When positions become available preference is given to Concert Band musicians.

Wanted:  Trombone player to share in covering "first parts” in the Sharon Concert Band and the Roy Scott Big Band. Candidate must have a very good range and quality of sound. Good reading skills are important and a desire to be part of an outstanding organization. Ability to improvise is a bonus. Must attend weekly rehearsals for both groups (times listed below) and be available for concert dates as they are announced.  The applicant should contact the music director: Steve Bell.
